Topeka, Kansas — Cheryl Kay Wilson, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on April 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 24, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas, Cheryl lived a life of warmth, creativity, and dedication.
Cheryl was the beloved daughter of Reba and Clifford Glasgow, who preceded her in passing. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Duane Glasgow, Ronald Glasgow, Dolores Cape, and Shirley Burkhart. Cheryl's legacy of love and kindness continues through her surviving children, Sherry Wilson, Carl (Claudia) Wilson, and Troy (Penny) Wilson. Her grandchildren, Nichole Costello, Kent, Tanner, Alayna, and Emily Wilson, along with her six great-grandchildren, will forever carry the light she shared.
In her early years, Cheryl attended Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama, where she formed friendships and developed a love for learning that would inform her life's pursuits. She later embarked on a rewarding career as a Registrar with the Boy Scouts of America in Topeka, Kansas. Cheryl's role was pivotal in assisting scoutmasters with events, activities, awards, and badges, and she took immense joy in fostering growth and achievement among the scouts.
Cheryl had a remarkable talent for quilting, an art she practiced with passion and precision. Each quilt she created was a testament to her love and care, becoming treasured heirlooms for family and friends. Her love for ceramics was equally profound, and she took great pride in her craft, owning and operating her kiln with enthusiasm.
Cheryl's home was a haven of warmth and creativity. Her quilts and ceramic pieces were reflections of her vibrant spirit and generous heart. Her gatherings were filled with laughter, stories, and the cozy comfort of her creations.
While her passing leaves a profound void, Cheryl's spirit remains alive in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in the countless memories and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her dedication to her family, her craft, and her community will be forever missed and cherished.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Cheryl's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Cheryl's memory to a charity of your choice, celebrating her lifelong commitment to helping others.
