Steubenville, Ohio, welcomed Cheryl Frier into the world on April 20, 1947. From the outset, it was clear that Cheryl would lead a life characterized by love, warmth, and an unwavering dedication to those around her. She departed this life on April 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her. Cheryl was the cherished daughter of Doroless Eleanor Simmons and Leslie Aurthur Simmons. Her childhood in Steubenville was filled with laughter, learning, and love. She was a bright light in her family, a role she maintained throughout her life, even after her beloved parents passed on before her. In 1965, Cheryl graduated from Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, with dreams and aspirations as vast as the Florida skies. Her journey led her to a fulfilling career at SCE&G/SCANA Corporation, where she served as a call center supervisor. Her 26-year tenure there was marked by her commitment to service and her ability to lead with kindness and a gentle spirit. Cheryl retired in 2007, leaving behind not just colleagues but lifelong friends who admired her deeply. On December 24, 1992, Cheryl married the love of her life, Joel Eugene "Gene" Frier, in Charleston, SC. Their marriage, spanning 34 years, was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they embraced life's adventures, camping in their motorhome and exploring the beauty of different cities and states. In every place they visited, Cheryl and Gene made lifelong friends, drawn to them by their warm hearts and infectious laughter. Cheryl's family was the center of her universe. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gene, her sister Linda Tucker and brother-in-law Bill, and her beloved sons Robbie Igoe (Cathy), David Igoe (Shannon), Chris Frier, and Alex Frier. Her grandchildren, Mandi Polston, Randy Igoe (Nicole), Jessica Mannis (Chris), Breanna Wright (Justin), and Brittani Frier, were her pride and joy. She adored her six great-grandchildren—Ava, Kinslee, Wyatt, Kay'Vion, Ja'Khy, and Mackenzie—who brought her endless joy and whom she loved dearly. Cheryl was known for her warmth and her willingness to help anyone in need. Her love for her family was boundless, and she expressed it in countless ways, not least through her culinary talents. Her kitchen was often filled with the aroma of delicious meals, as she loved hosting large gatherings for family and friends, where fellowship and laughter reigned supreme. An avid cat lover, Cheryl shared a special bond with her feline companions, most notably Ms. Gracie, her most recent kitty, who brought her comfort and companionship. To honor Cheryl's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life. As her family and friends gather to remember her, they will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support to those she held dear. Cheryl Frier's journey on this earth has come to an end, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and admiration.
