In Loving Memory

Cheryl D. Elliott
November 16, 1956 — May 14, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl D. Elliott, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on May 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Cheryl was born on November 16, 1956, in Oakland, California, to Ora and James Blanchard, who preceded her in death. She was 69 years old.
Cheryl's life was a testament to the power of kindness, intelligence, and unyielding love. She graduated from Oakland Technical High School at the remarkable age of 16, showcasing her remarkable intellect and determination. She continued her academic journey at California State East Bay, where she earned her Bachelor's degree, setting the stage for a lifetime of learning and growth.
In the winter of 1977, Cheryl began her career with Social Security, a position she held with dedication and passion until her retirement in April 2026. Her colleagues remember her not only for her quick wit but also for her unwavering support and mentorship, particularly towards new trainees. Cheryl was not just a worker but a beacon of kindness and patience, reminding everyone to "Be Kind" in everything they do.
Cheryl's warmth and generosity extended beyond her professional life. She married the love of her life, Dennis M. Elliott, on March 23, 1979, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they shared 47 beautiful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Cheryl and Dennis built a loving family, blessed with four children: their late daughter, Carese Elliott, and surviving children Dennis, Christina, and Anjanette. Her legacy continues through her cherished granddaughter, Daijana Elliott, and her 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and values she instilled in her family.
Cheryl's passions were as diverse as they were enriching. She found joy in reading, traveling, and, notably, in the simple pleasures of dining with loved ones. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of moments spent exploring the world and savoring its many flavors, always with a book in hand and a smile on her face.
Her circle of love extended to her dear friends, Kim Green and Arnita Jennings, whose bonds of friendship provided strength and joy throughout her life. Cheryl's ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cheryl Elliott's life was a symphony of love, laughter, and kindness. Her bright smile and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. While her passing leaves a void, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.
A celebration of Cheryl's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to remember her remarkable journey and the indelible mark she left on this world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cheryl's memory to a charity of your choice, continuing her legacy of kindness and generosity.
Cheryl D. Elliott, a woman of grace, intelligence, and boundless love, will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in peace, reunited with her daughter, Carese, and her beloved parents.
