Cheree Lee Matta Albert

Cheryl (Cheree) Lee Matta Albert, a beacon of love, compassion, and determination, passed away peacefully at her home on August 19, 2026, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 16, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cheree's life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and the pursuit of dreams. Cheree was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Matta and Marian Wiegand Matta, who instilled in her the values of hard work and compassion. She was predeceased by her parents, but their legacy lived on through her every action. Cheree is survived by her devoted husband, Dave Albert, with whom she shared 35 beautiful years of marriage. They met while working at Florida Hospital, and their love story began in Orlando, Florida, where they wed on April 13, 1991. Cheree was the cherished mother of two children, her son Evan and daughter Jesse, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind her loving siblings, brother Harry and sister Terri North, who were constants in her life. Her family, including countless others who lovingly called her Aunt Cheree, was the center of her world. Cheree's educational journey began at Holy Cross High School in New Jersey. She went on to earn a nursing degree from Trenton State College, later achieving a Master’s Degree at Seton Hall University. Her career in nursing was marked by compassion and excellence, serving as a nurse manager at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a Nurse Practitioner and interim CEO of Children's Specialized Hospital in New Jersey. Her passion led her to the Neonatal ICU at Florida Hospital Orlando, where she became a Developmental Specialist and Educator. Throughout her life, Cheree's career evolved as she moved with her family across the country, from North Carolina to California and Chicago. Her commitment to health and wellness was evident in her role as an International Health and Wellness Coach and faculty member at the Dr. William Sears Institute. She also held a leadership position at the Juice Plus Company, where she mentored a community of health coaches. Cheree’s dedication to others extended beyond her professional life. She was the first female Chairman of the Central Florida March of Dimes and served on the Roper YMCA Board for nearly two decades. Her contributions to these organizations made a lasting impact on her community. Cheree found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from long walks on the beach and fishing with her son Evan to watching her daughter Jesse dance. She embraced every move with her family as an adventure, inspiring those around her with her unyielding spirit. Her passion for learning was reflected in her continuous pursuit of nursing credentials and her membership in the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. Cheree will be remembered for her bright smile, unwavering hope, and profound love for others. She was the perfect mother, wife, and friend, truly the answer to Dave's prayers. Her legacy of love and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew her. A service to honor Cheree’s remarkable life will be held at Pilars Loft, 146 West Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL, on September 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Roper YMCA in Winter Garden, FL. Cheree's life was a testament to the power of love, hope, and resilience. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and kindness that will continue to touch the lives of many.
