Cherita Denise Ellis

February 18, 1970 — May 13, 2026

In loving memory of Cherita Denise Ellis, who peacefully departed this world on May 13, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on February 18, 1970, in the close-knit community of Louisa, Virginia, Cherita was a beacon of warmth and kindness whose radiant smile and generous spirit touched all who knew her. Cherita was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Joyce Ellis, who preceded her in death, along with her cherished sister, Robinette Smith. Her family roots were deep, her love for them unwavering, and the lessons she learned at their side formed the foundation of the incredible person she became. Cherita's life was illuminated by her passion for singing and dancing, often seen as the life of any gathering, her laughter and joy infectious. She found immense joy in being surrounded by family and friends, where her natural charisma and love for life shined brightly. Cherita was a woman who knew the true value of togetherness and celebrated every moment with those she loved. As a nurturing and devoted mother, Cherita leaves behind her treasured family: Kim Johnson-Paris, Nadaisha Martin, Brandon'ee Ellis, Marquoise Ellis, Amon, and Jakquaun. Her legacy lives on through her three precious grandchildren, who were the light of her life, each a testament to her enduring love and strength. Cherita's life will be celebrated at Life Builder Christian Church on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM, located at 6608 Wilkins Place, District Heights, Maryland 20747. Friends and family are invited to honor her memory, to share stories of happiness and to find comfort in the bonds of love she held so dear. Cherita Denise Ellis was a woman of remarkable spirit, whose life was a melody of love, laughter, and kindness. As we gather to say our farewells, we remember her not with sadness, but with a profound gratitude for the time we shared and the love she gave so freely. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us to live with the same joy and compassion that she so beautifully embodied.
