In Loving Memory
Chatman Brown
July 25, 1951 — April 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Chatman Brown, who departed this world on April 10, 2026, after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. Chatman slipped away quietly in his sleep, surrounded by the love he nurtured throughout his 64 years.
Born on July 25, 1961, in the warm embrace of Drew, Mississippi, Chatman was the beloved son of Warren Brown Sr. and Denise Brown, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his brothers, Warren Brown Jr. and Benard Brown, and sisters, Annie Brown and Jean Brown.
Chatman's life was a testament to resilience and love, always finding strength in family and friends. His legacy is carried forward by his cherished children, daughter Sibel Brown and son Chatman Brown Jr., who, together with his daughter-in-law Carolyn, embody the values and principles he held dear.
A man of deep familial connections, Chatman is survived by a large, loving family: his siblings Eveline (Michael) William, May (Author) Nash, Tommy Lee Brown, Alfred Brown, Cisco (Grace) Brown, Brenda (LC) Gant, Vanessa Richards, Chanel (James) Stelley, Betty (Ricky) McGhee, Darron Richards, James Richards, and Patricia McNeal.
Chatman's legacy is further enriched by his three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with wisdom, humor, and an abundance of love.
Throughout his journey, Chatman was known for his gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness. He had an extraordinary ability to bring people together, creating a sense of community wherever he went. His warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
An avid storyteller, Chatman loved sharing tales of his Mississippi roots, seamlessly weaving humor and life lessons into every narrative. His stories will forever echo in the hearts of those who gathered around him.
While we mourn the loss of his physical presence, we celebrate the full, vibrant life Chatman led — a life characterized by love, perseverance, and an enduring faith in the goodness of humanity.
A memorial service to honor Chatman's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and pay tribute to a remarkable man who touched so many lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a cancer research organization of your choice, reflecting Chatman's enduring hope for a cure.
Chatman Brown will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His spirit of kindness and love will continue to inspire us all.
Rest in peace, dear Chatman. Your journey here may have ended, but your legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine brightly in the lives you touched.
