Charlotte DeWitt

Charlotte Harris Dewitt, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at home with her Bible open to the book of John. Born on August 1, 1967, in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life. Charlotte was the devoted daughter of the late Louis and Hattie Harris and is predeceased by her brother, Charles Harris. Her legacy of love and kindness is carried on by her dear friend Bobby McCulloch and children, Edward Dewitt, Erica Dewitt, and Rayshsail Dewitt, who were the lights of her life. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love extended to her 11 grandchildren—Jamya Cox, Tryvon Johnson, Ehrianna Dewitt, Rashad McCulloch, Edewitt Dewitt Jr, Rhoan Bacchas Jr, Ezekiel Dewitt, Emani Dewitt, Amir Jenkins, Akhil Jenkins—and her great-grandson, Jaric Knupp Jr. Charlotte’s siblings, Bobby Washington, Kenneth Washington, Ida Mae Harris, and Doretha Harris, mourn the loss of their dear sister who brought joy and light to their lives. Professionally, Charlotte dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a caregiver. Her compassionate nature and gentle soul made her a pillar of support to those she served. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she actively participated in the West Sacramento Community Church, where she was involved in the homeless and prayer ministries. Her beautiful smile and heartfelt testimonies about God's goodness and her love for Jesus touched many lives and inspired those around her. Charlotte found immense joy in spending time with her family, particularly relishing the moments at her grandchildren's swimming lessons. She cherished these precious times, creating memories filled with laughter and love that will be forever treasured by her family. A celebration of her life will be held on August 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Tip Fellowship Ministries, located at 6489 47th Street, Sacramento, CA 95823. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to TIP Ministries, Pastor Ray, and Dr. Maria Ross for their unwavering support during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Charlotte's name to organizations supporting the homeless, reflecting her dedication to helping those in need. Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and service, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
