Charles was surrounded by his beloved family as he peacefully departed this world to join his parents, Charles Whitney Sr. and Isobel Whitney, who predeceased him. Born on April 12, 1943, in Riverside, Kansas, Charles was the cherished son of Charles and Isobel Whitney. He grew up in a loving household with his siblings, Jane, Herb (Mary Sue), and Mason (Miriam), each of whom held a special place in his heart. Charles graduated from Wichita North High School in 1962, a formative experience that laid the foundation for a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication. On June 26, 1965, Charles married the love of his life, Patricia Thomison, in their hometown of Riverside, Kansas. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning over five decades, during which they shared countless memories and built a beautiful family. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Amy (David) and Lori (Jeffery), who brought immense pride and joy to their lives. Charles’s legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Riley, Whitney, William, and Pierce, each of whom held a special place in his loving heart. His love and guidance extended to his great-grandchildren, Tom Walker, Kenneth Merritt, and Robert Walker, who will grow up with the stories and wisdom of their great-grandfather as a guiding light. A man of deep integrity and unwavering devotion, Charles dedicated his life to his family and community. He was a beacon of strength, always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, and a helping hand. His gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Charles will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Patricia, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his siblings and their families. He is also remembered fondly by his brother-in-law, Nicholas Waddock Jr., and a host of extended family members and friends who were like family to him.
