Charles Schneider
May 12, 1938 — August 2, 2026
Charles Schneider, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on August 2, 2026. Born on May 12, 1938, in Lebanon, Missouri.
Charles's life was deeply rooted in his hometown, where he was raised by his loving parents, Carl and Fern Schneider. He attended Delto school through the eighth grade and proudly graduated from Lebanon High School in the class of 1955. From a young age, Charles displayed a strong work ethic, beginning his career at Rock Court Motel and Station, Warren Beard Farms and the MFA feed store. His entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to purchase his own milk route, which marked the start of a lifelong career in farming.
Throughout his life, Charles was a devoted steward of the land. With his beloved wife Joyce by his side, he milked cows and raised pigs and beef cattle, contributing to the agricultural community of Lebanon. Charles's commitment to his work was matched only by his willingness to help others. Whether working for the government, hauling cattle, or lending a hand to neighbors in need,
On November 3, 1964, Charles married the love of his life, Joyce Chastain, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span 63 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising two sons, Scott and Brice, who inherited their father's strong values and dedication. Charles was the grandfather of four grandchildren: Trenton, Zachary, Shelby, and Mason, and great grandfather to three great-grandchildren, Stetson, Slayton, and Logan, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of a new baby girl.
Charles is predeceased by his parents, Carl and Fern Schneider; his father-in-law, Otis Chastain; his mother-in-law, Barbara Chastain; his sister, Shirley Henson; sister-in-law Martha Schneider; brother-in-laws, David and Jerry Chastain; and his niece, Cindy (Henson) Vanarsdall. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce; his sons and their wives, Scott (Susan) and Brice (Brandi); his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, David Schneider; his sister, Beverly Schneider; his brother-in-law, Jim Henson; and his sister-in-law, Marietta Chastain, along with many other cherished family members and friends.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Charles's life. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Charles's memory may send a memorial to Hough Chapel Cemetery, in care of David Schneider, at 16 Greenwood, Lebanon, MO 65536.
