Louisville, Kentucky – Charles Ransdell, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on September 16, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky, Charles lived a life full of generosity, wisdom, and humor, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Charles was predeceased by his loving wife, Rita Ransdell, and his daughter, Brittany Ransdell. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Selena Ransdell, and his sons, Carlos Ransdell, Jose Ransdell, and Alex Ransdell. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and delighted in the presence of his three great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
After graduating from Flaget Catholic High School in Louisville, Charles was drafted into the Army, where he bravely served during the Korean War. His time in the military shaped him into the strong, disciplined, and compassionate man he became, traits he carried throughout his life.
Following his service, Charles embarked on a rewarding career in Indianapolis, working as a supervisor at the East Water Treatment Plant. His dedication and work ethic left an indelible mark on his colleagues until his retirement. Even in retirement, he remained an active and respected member of his community.
Charles was a long-time member of the American Legion, where he volunteered tirelessly and even served as a commander. His commitment to service and camaraderie with fellow veterans was a testament to his unwavering dedication to helping others.
Beyond his professional and community achievements, Charles will be remembered for his personal warmth and vibrant spirit. He had a big heart and a knack for sharing words of wisdom, always ready with a kind word or a joke to lift the spirits of those around him. His love for fishing and traveling with his family created countless cherished memories, and his stories of adventure and joy will be passed down through generations.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Charles's wishes and the family's request for privacy. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Amber Hospice and his dedicated nurse, Alex Gomez, for their compassionate care during Charles's final days.
