Charles Pugh
January 16, 1949 — May 24, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Pugh, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on May 24, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on January 16, 1949, in Tazewell, Virginia, Charles was the cherished son of the late Jack Pugh and Monette Lawson.
Charles grew up in the serene landscapes of Virginia, where he developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the joy of simple pleasures. In his youth, Charles found freedom on the open road, riding his motorcycle through the winding country roads he loved so much. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his love for the tranquility of the water. Most weekends were spent by the lake, where he could be found casting a line, hoping for a good catch, or simply enjoying the gentle lapping of the waves against the shore.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Charles was an avid football fan, passionately supporting his favorite teams and delighting in the camaraderie of the game. However, his true artistry shone through in his woodworking. Charles possessed an extraordinary talent for transforming a simple piece of wood into a masterpiece, crafting beautiful and functional pieces that will be cherished by his family and friends for generations.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debbie Pugh, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. He is also reunited with his parents, Jack Pugh and Monette Lawson, his brother, Gary Pugh, and his sister, Mary Ruth Broviak, who all preceded him in death.
He leaves behind a legacy of love in his surviving children, Brandon Pugh, Jason Pugh, and Robin Pugh, who will forever hold their father’s memory close to their hearts. Charles was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Adalyn Pugh, Jacob Pugh, Jackson Stanley, Raylee Richter, and Kyla Richter. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he delighted in sharing his passions and wisdom with them.
Charles’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and the pursuit of one's passions. His gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering kindness touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held in the coming days, where family and friends will gather to honor his remarkable journey and the indelible mark he left on the world. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Charles’s memory, as a tribute to his generous spirit and love for helping others.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
