Charles Phillip VanDaley

September 29, 1972 — August 4, 2026

Charles Phillip VanDaley, a cherished husband, father, son, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 53. Born on September 29, 1972, in Tyler, Texas, Charles was the beloved son of Donald Phillip and Mary Charlene VanDaley. He was a man whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Charles was a devoted husband to Michele VanDaley, whom he married on August 19, 1995, in Cleveland, Mississippi. Together, they built a loving family and shared a life filled with laughter and adventure. He was the proud father of two wonderful children, Mary Elizabeth and Curtis Phillip, who were the light of his life. He was a dedicated lineman for 15 years, a career that showcased his commitment and hardworking spirit. When not working, Charles was a passionate competitor on the "Big Boyz Team," where he shared his love for barbeque, participating in competitions for 25 years. His culinary skills brought joy to many, but it was his love for people that truly defined him. Charles never met a stranger, his friendly nature was a beacon of warmth. A lover of sports, Charles found joy in coaching his children in softball and baseball, and he generously volunteered with the Cleveland High Bowling Team. His dedication to his community extended to being an officer of the Cleveland Moose Lodge from 1994 to 2016, where he formed lasting bonds and friendships. Charles was a member of the Interstate Baptist Church, where his faith was nurtured and shared with others. His sporting allegiance was evident in his support for Ole Miss, Duke, and Delta State, where he proudly stood as a member of the Left Field Crew. Predeceased by his grandparents, Don Sr. and Jody VanDaley, Benny and Mary Perkins, his father-in-law, William Langston, and his niece, Kailen Leigh Langston, Charles leaves behind a family who loves him dearly. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Mary VanDaley; his wife, Michele; his children, Mary Elizabeth and Curtis Phillip; his sister, Jackie Wuestenhoefer; his sister-in-law, Traci Morgan; his brother-in-law, Jeff Langston; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Langston; and his niece and nephew, Abby and Adam Wuestenhoefer. A service to honor Charles's life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Ray Funeral Home, located at 206 Bishop Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Charles. Charles Phillip VanDaley's legacy of kindness, humor, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will forever inspire those he leaves behind.
