Charles Norman Wood

July 30, 1944 — March 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Charles Norman Wood, who departed this world peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the VA hospice center, surrounded by the love of family and the tender care of dedicated professionals. Charles was born on July 30, 1944, in the welcoming community of Battle Creek, MI, to Norman and Helen Binford Wood, who instilled in him the values of kindness, service, and integrity. Charles, known to many as a gentle soul with an unwavering patience, was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His hands, adept in the art of carpentry, crafted not only wood but also enduring memories and bonds with those he loved. His life was a testament to diligence and devotion, both in his personal and professional pursuits. After graduating from high school, Charles answered the call to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy, where he developed a strong sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried with him throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career at Clark Equipment, where he worked diligently until his retirement. His work was more than a job; it was a place where he forged lasting friendships and contributed to the community. Charles was a cherished father to his son, Corey Charles Robert, and a beloved father-in-law to Corey’s wife, Elizabeth. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Chloe and Ryan, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Charles was the loving brother-in-law of Kay KeBar and Corky Stone, and a dear uncle to his nieces, Tiffany Adams, Andrea Powell, and Jordan Parker. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent in their company. Predeceased by his parents, Norman and Helen, and his sister, Joy, Charles leaves behind a family who will carry forth his memory and values with love and devotion. In his passing, we are reminded of the bonds that transcend time and the enduring impact of a life well-lived. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Charles’s remarkable life. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the VA hospice staff for their outstanding care and compassion during his final days. In remembering Charles Norman Wood, we celebrate a life marked by service, love, and quiet strength. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth of the love he gave so freely in this life.
