It is with profound sadness and humble joy in a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Lewis Mueller on April 30th, 2026, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.on Charles was in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his cherished family. Born on July 21, 1932, in the quaint town of Vince, Illinois, Charles was the son of the late Ed and Dorthy Mueller. His early years in Vince were filled with the warmth of family, alongside his predeceased brother Ed and cousin Sharon.
Charles leaves behind a legacy woven with love, dedication, and service. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 incredible years, Josephine Mueller, whose partnership was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they built a family that Charles cherished above all else, including his daughters, Debbie Gehab (Ken) and Dawn Schmidt (Bob); his son, Darryl Mueller (Laurie); and his treasured grandchildren, Ryan Mueller, Travis Mueller, Jonathon Mueller, Sarah West, Brad West, Nicolette Schmidt, and Nathan Schmidt. The joy of his heart was further multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Dayton, Kayden, Lindsey, and Maverick, each of whom brought him endless delight.
Charles’s life was one of service and commitment. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Millikin University and earning a Master's degree from Indiana University, he proudly served his country in the army. His post-military career was marked by a profound dedication to education, as he worked passionately as a coach, teacher, and administrator in High School District 211. His influence shaped the lives of countless students and staff, leaving an indelible mark on the community.
A man of integrity and generosity, Charles was a steadfast member of the Rotary Club, where he devoted time to service and fellowship. His life was a testament to the values of kindness, hard work, and dedication to others.
Charles is also survived by his brothers Jim (Grace) Mueller and Rick (Patty) Mueller, whose bonds he cherished deeply. Each of these relationships enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
A celebration of Charles’s life will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Deer Park Club House, located at 21599 W Field Ct, Deer Park, IL 60010. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor and remember a man whose life was a beacon of love and service.
In this time of loss, we find solace in the countless memories and the profound impact Charles had on everyone who had the privilege to know him. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the lives of the many people he touched throughout his journey on this earth.
