Charles Emerson Carle, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Carle, born on April 8, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts. Charles departed this life peacefully on August 11, 2026, following a courageous battle with illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and laughter. Charles was the beloved son of the late Charles Carle Sr. and Thelma (Hough) Carle. He was predeceased by his cherished sister, Barbara “Pinkey,” and his dear younger brother, Edward “Eddie.” His memory will continue to be cherished by his children, Wayne (Aleisa), Christine (Cory), Nicole, Leah, and Michael, as well as his stepchildren, Lisa and Eric (Staley). Educated in the Boston Public Schools, Charles attended both Boston Trade School for Boys and Charlestown High School. His career began at Digital Equipment Corp in Maynard, MA, where he worked as a technician in schematic design for computer systems. After a layoff during the 1980s merger with Compaq, Charles relocated to South Carolina, working at Hitachi Corp until his well-deserved retirement. Charles recommitted his life to Jesus Christ and became a devoted member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church. Baptized in 2018 under the guidance of Sr. Pastor Reverend Tim Allen, Charles found immense joy singing in the Men's Choir, where he forged deep bonds with fellow members. Even when health challenges prevented him from attending services, he filled his home with the uplifting sounds of his favorite Gospel songs. A man of many interests, Charles found joy in the company of friends and the staff at the Elder Service Plan Adult Day Program in Mattapan, MA. He was an avid fan of nostalgic western TV shows and found his greatest joy in the company of his grandchildren, whose laughter was often sparked by his funny faces and playful gestures. His son Michael was a constant presence, visiting weekly and calling daily, providing Charles with immeasurable comfort and companionship. Those who knew Charles remember him fondly for his charming nature and engaging conversations, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His warmth and wit were evident in every interaction, bringing smiles and laughter to the lives he touched. A service to celebrate Charles's life will be held on August 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, located at 654 Cummings Hwy, Mattapan, MA 02126. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Charles's memory to the American Diabetes Association, reflecting his commitment to supporting those in need. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents at the Providence House Assisted Living at Corey Park in Brighton, MA, for their unwavering support and compassion. Charles Carle’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, serenaded by the heavenly choir, surrounded by the love he so generously shared in his lifetime.
