Charles "Ike" Herbert Eisenbraun

October 19, 1936 — February 11, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles "Ike" Herbert Eisenbraun, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ike passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on February 11, 2026, at Ochsner Kenner Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 19, 1936, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ike was the cherished son of Ida and Herbert Eisenbraun. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dodi, and his brother Bob. Ike leaves behind a legacy of love and joy in the hearts of his surviving family members: his devoted wife of almost 60 years, Christine Eisenbraun; his children, Tony and wife Liz, Terry and wife Jennifer, Kell and husband Michael Armanini, Tina and husband Barry Carr, and Kari; and his seven grandchildren, Sebastian, Rebecca, Stephanie, Nicole, Lauryn Young, Maxwell Young, and Nataleigh Young. Ike and Christine's love story began in England, where they were married on April 7, 1966. Together, they embraced the life of a military family, living in various countries and states as Ike served his country with dedication and honor. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Ike was honorably discharged after 22 years of service, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. His service included a deployment to Vietnam, where he worked diligently in Communications, contributing to the efforts of his nation. Upon retiring from the military, Ike's career took him to the bustling world of retail, where he worked at JCPenney in Lakeside Mall and Macy's in the Esplanade Mall. He retired in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina, finally settling in Metairie with his family. Ike was a man of many interests, each pursued with passion and enthusiasm. He found joy in collecting stamps and coins from around the world, each piece a reminder of the vastness and beauty of our planet. Music filled his soul, whether he was singing with his beautiful voice, tapping his feet, or dancing along to his favorite tunes. Ike was known for his corny jokes, delightful impersonations of Porky Pig and Clint Eastwood, and his infectious smile that could light up a room. He brought warmth and comfort to those around him, never calling anyone by their name but instead using endearing terms like "sweetheart," "darlin," or "son." A devoted fan of the Saints and local college teams, Ike was often heard exclaiming, "Woot there it is!" in celebration of a touchdown. His simple pleasures included jellybeans, milkshakes, popcorn, and cookies, always enjoyed with a twinkle in his eye. He loved nothing more than sitting on his backyard porch, regardless of the weather, with a cup of coffee, a cigarette, and the company of birds as he listened to his favorite talk radio shows. Ike's life will be celebrated on April 7, 2026, at 9:00 AM, coinciding with the anniversary of his wedding to Christine, honoring the love and life they shared. As we gather to remember him, we hold in our hearts the memory of a man who lived with love, laughter, and a profound kindness that touched everyone he met. Ike's legacy is one of unwavering devotion to his family, his country, and the simple joys of life. Rest in peace, dear Ike. Your love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
