It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Charles Henry Miller Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Charles peacefully departed this world on May 22, 2026, at the age of 89, after a long illness, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on May 3, 1937, in the small town of Upshur, Texas, to Nelson and Anna Miller.
Charles was a man of steadfast principles and unwavering devotion to his country and family. At the tender age of 17, he joined the United States Navy, where he served with honor and distinction from 1954 until his honorable discharge in January 1963. His time in the Navy shaped him into the disciplined and resilient man who would become a pillar of strength for his family.
In 1958, Charles married his first wife, Ruby Kraft. Together, they shared over two decades of life’s journey before parting ways in 1980. A year later, Charles found love again and married Rose Mary Burciaga-Garcia on May 20, 1981. Their union was a testament to enduring love and companionship until Rose Mary’s passing.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Anna Miller, his brothers Benjamin, William, Paul, and Nelson Miller, his cherished son James Miller, and his loving wife Rose Mary Miller. While their absence leaves an irreplaceable void, Charles’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who survive him.
He leaves behind a large and loving family who cherished his presence. His surviving family includes his children, Charles and Julie Miller, Leslie and Tina Miller, and Benjamin Miller; his stepchildren Vanessa Arevalo, Joseph Garcia III, and James Garcia; his grandchildren Stephanie Miller, Courtney and Nick Thomas, Charles Miller, James and Tony Miller, Ella, Lily, and Alicia Garcia, Amelia Riley, Grayson Miller, Ava and Nash Freitag, Kai and Luca Ramarez, James, Monty, Ashley, and Baron Miller, and Ruby Raabe.
Charles's life will be celebrated on June 12, 2026, at the American Heritage Funeral Home, located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
