May 22, 1942 – May 18, 2026 With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Hendrix Newman, who left this world peacefully on May 18, 2026, just days shy of his 84th birthday. Born on May 22, 1942, Charlie was a man of unwavering integrity, steadfast loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community. Charlie was the beloved son of Dwight and Ruth Newman, who predeceased him. He is survived by his devoted brother, David Newman, and sister-in-law, Ann Newman. Charlie’s legacy lives on through his nephews, Steven and Daniel Newman, his niece, Angela Ward, and numerous great-nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Charlie. A man of intellect and curiosity, Charlie graduated from South Harrison High School in Bethany, Missouri, in 1960. He furthered his education at Southwest Missouri State College and the Graduate School of Banking, equipping himself with the knowledge and skills that would pave the way for a distinguished career. In service to his country, Charlie was a proud member of the United States Army Reserves, earning an honorable discharge. His sense of duty and commitment was evident in every aspect of his life, including his professional career as a Federal Bank Examiner in Kansas City and St. Louis. Charlie's meticulous nature and strong ethical compass earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Beyond his professional life, Charlie was a man who embraced the simple joys. An avid lover of music, he played the saxophone with passion in his high school Pep and Dance Bands and lent his voice to the church choir and the family quartet, enriching the lives of those around him with melody and harmony. Charlie was a man who deeply valued friendship and community. He cherished moments shared over ice cream outings to Brahms with his neighborhood buddies, where laughter and camaraderie were always on the menu. Known for his candid nature, Charlie lived by the motto, "What you see is what you get!" This authenticity endeared him to many and left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ozark Methodist Manor for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the Ozark Methodist Manor, an organization close to his heart. As we bid farewell to Charlie, we hold on to the memories of a life well-lived and a heart that touched so many. His legacy of honesty, love, and joy will continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come. What you see is what you get!
