In loving memory of Charles Heard, we celebrate a life lived with unwavering faith, immense love, and an unyielding spirit. Charles was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 10, 1967, and departed this world on May 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and joy that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. Charles was the beloved son of the late Charles Heard Sr. and Enola Heard, who nurtured his early years with love and wisdom. From a young age, it was clear that Charles was destined to shine. A proud graduate of Robeson High School, Charles excelled not just academically but also athletically. He was a three-sport student-athlete, showing remarkable talent in track, baseball, and football. His prowess on the football field earned him a scholarship to Alabama State University, where he continued to demonstrate his dedication and unyielding spirit. Beyond his athletic achievements, Charles was blessed with an angelic voice that could captivate and move any crowd. Singing was more than a hobby; it was a passion that he shared with those around him, bringing joy and comfort through every note. His love for music was matched only by his love for sports, as he enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball with the same enthusiasm he had as a player. Charles's life was profoundly anchored in his faith. His relationship with God was of utmost importance, and he was often found reading the Bible in quiet reflection. His faith was a beacon to others, and he humbly shared scripture and testimonies of God's goodness, providing comfort and inspiration to many. Those who knew Charles remember him for his honesty and transparent nature. His intentions were always clear, and he approached life with a loving, supportive, and giving heart. Charles had a unique ability to make others laugh, his humor infectious and unmistakable. His strength was a testament to his spiritual resilience, enabling him to persevere through life's trials with grace and courage. Charles's legacy is carried on by his loving children, Charles Heard III and Nydya Heard, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his dear brother Marcus Foreman, his sisters LaTasha Foreman and LaTanya Foreman, and his cherished niece Tameika Crawford. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close childhood friends, many going back to his days at Robeson High School, also mourn his passing. A service to honor Charles's life will be held on May 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Leak & Sons Funeral Homes, located at 7838 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL 60619. Friends and family are invited to gather, reminisce, and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who touched so many with his faith, humor, and unwavering love. In the words of those who knew him best, Charles Heard was more than a son, father, brother, uncle, and friend; he was a beacon of light, a testament to the power of love, and an inspiration to all who had the privilege to know him. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts, as we cherish the memories and lessons he left behind.
