Charles Edward Vickery, a beloved member of the Halls, Tennessee community, passed away peacefully at his home on August 10, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on February 27, 1948, in Halls, TN, Charles was the cherished son of the late Hayden and Ruby Lee (McGee) Vickery Sr. Charles, known for his warm and jovial spirit, lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to family and friends. A proud United States Army Vietnam Veteran, Charles served his country with honor and distinction, an experience that left an indelible mark on his life. He was married to his late wife, Sheila Kay Vickery, with whom he shared many cherished years. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. Charles was predeceased by his dear wife, Sheila Kay, and his sister, Carolyn Ann Vickery. Charles spent many fulfilling years working at Hansford Furniture and other jobs, where he became known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. After a long and rewarding career, he enjoyed a well-deserved retirement, devoting much of his time to the pursuits that brought him joy. An avid crappie fisherman, Charles found peace and happiness at the Tennessee River, where he spent countless days casting his line and enjoying the beauty of nature. His passion for woodworking was equally fulfilling; he was a perfectionist in his craft, taking pride in building and creating with his hands. Those who knew Charles will fondly remember him for his sense of humor and his ability to bring smiles to the faces of those around him. He loved making people laugh and was always ready with a joke or a funny story. Charles is survived by his two devoted brothers, Hayden (Wanda) Vickery Jr. of Jackson, TN, and Rickey (Penne) Vickery of Halls, TN. He also leaves behind his special friend, Thomas Carlew, and several beloved nephews who will deeply miss him. A service to celebrate Charles's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Halls Funeral Home, located at 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN 38040. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Charles. His generous spirit and love for his community will live on through the contributions made in his honor. Charles Edward Vickery will be remembered as a loving brother, a loyal friend, and a man who lived life with joy and kindness. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
