January 3, 1941 — April 29, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Edward Crane on April 29, 2026. Charles, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, bid farewell to this world at the age of 85, surrounded by the warmth of his family at home, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on January 3, 1941, to Lawrence Thomas Crane and Bessie Crane, Charles was a beacon of strength and resilience from the very start. Raised in Blythe, California, he embarked on a journey of learning and growth that began at Ripley Elementary School and continued through Palo Verde Junior High and Palo Verdes High School. These formative years laid the foundation for the remarkable man he would become. Charles's life was marked by dedication and hard work, spending over 50 years as a skilled cement mason in the construction industry. His hands shaped not just buildings, but also the lives of those around him. For a brief period, he also took to the open road, driving big rigs, but his heart always led him back to construction, where he worked tirelessly until his well-earned retirement. In 1961, Charles married Myrtle in Blythe, California, and together they built a life in Pasadena/Altadena, raising their six children. Though their marriage ended, the bonds of family endured, and Charles remained a loving father to Danny, Anthony, Andře, Thomas K. Hunter Derrick and wife Trina, Janet Wiley, and Mary Pat Reed and husband Lewis. Blessed him with 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Charles was predeceased by his brothers John Lewis, Lewis, Milton, and Lawrence Peter Crane, his sister Dorothy Crane Ward, and his cherished daughter Donna Morris Crane. The memories of these loved ones remained close to his heart, and their legacy continued through him. A man of simple pleasures, Charles found immense joy in the company of his family and friends. His laughter and love filled every room, and he cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren, whether gathered at home or exploring the world. He had a flair for dressing sharp and never missed an opportunity to entertain and be entertained by his nieces, nephews, and children. Charles's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the joy of togetherness. As we say goodbye, we remember him as a man who lived life to its fullest, who loved without reservation, and who leaves behind a legacy of warmth and strength. Charles's family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have shown love and support during this time. A celebration of his life will be held to honor the remarkable journey of a man who touched so many hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Charles's memory, to continue his legacy of giving and love. Rest in peace, Charles. Your life was a blessing, and your memory will forever be a treasure.
