With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles Deanes, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on December 14, 1935, in the close-knit community of West Point, Mississippi, Charles was the cherished son of the late Will and Sallie Deanes. His life was a tapestry woven with kindness, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. Charles served his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, after which he attended Alcorn State University. He spent an impressive 42 years as a dedicated mail clerk at the United States Post Office, where his commitment to hard work and integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. In 1962, Charles married the love of his life, Betty Jean Neely, beginning a beautiful journey of 64 years together. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, blessed with two sons, Christopher and the late Charles A Deanes. His family was his pride and joy, and Charles was a loving, supportive father who instilled the values of compassion and resilience in his children. Charles was known for his infectious sense of humor and his selfless nature. He was the kind of neighbor who would clear snow from the walkways of the elderly, a small act that spoke volumes about his character. His gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. An avid sports enthusiast, Charles enjoyed bowling and was known to engage in spirited games of football, baseball, ping pong, and horseshoes. These activities were not only pastimes but opportunities to bond with family and friends, creating memories that will forever be cherished. He is predeceased by his parents, Will and Sallie Deanes; brothers, Roger, Billie, James, and Bobby; sister, Beatrice; and son, Charles A Deanes. His legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Betty Jean Deanes; his son, Christopher Deanes; his brother, Edward Deanes and wife Delores; his daughter-in-law, Haimanot; his stepdaughter, Gnet; and his step great-grandson, Aman. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hillhavens Sterling Care for their kindness and dedication in caring for Charles during his final days. They also wish to thank their extended family and friends for their prayers and unwavering support during this difficult time. God bless you all.
