Charles David White
September 14, 1960 — October 18, 2026
Charles David White, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world peacefully on October 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 14, 1960, in Sikeston, Missouri, Charles was the beloved son of William Robert White II and Thelma Elizabeth Evans White. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Robert White III, and his nephew Nicki White.
Charles's early years were filled with the warmth and laughter of family and friends. He graduated from New Madrid High School in 1978, where he laid the foundation for a life defined by dedication, hard work, and a delightful sense of humor. In 1979, he married Amy Murphy, and together they welcomed two daughters, Cammy and Abby, into the world. Though their marriage ended in 1992, the love they shared for their daughters remained a testament to their enduring bond.
For 46 years, Charles devoted his career to Noranda Aluminum, later continuing his work with Magnitude 7 Metals. His colleagues remember him not just for his skill and dedication, whether running cranes, tapping pots, or rebuilding supers, but also for his infectious laughter and playful pranks. Charles's stories and jokes were legendary, bringing joy to all who worked alongside him.
A man of many talents, Charles found great joy in his workshop, crafting creations with his hands and heart. He cherished the tranquility of fishing, the thrill of deer hunting, and the simple pleasure of riding the backroads with a cold beer in hand. As a longtime member of the New Madrid Eagles Aerie #4206 and the New Madrid American Legion, he was deeply connected to his community, always ready with a quick wit and warm smile.
Charles's love for his family was boundless. He is survived by his daughters Cammy Gilmer (Justin) of Munford, TN, and Abby Mims (Darin) of New Madrid, MO. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Ava and Brock Gilmer, and Amy Jeanne Mims. Charles also leaves behind his brother Joe Allen White, nephew William Robert (Robbie) White IV, and nieces Chelsea Williams (Todd) and Alleigh White, who will forever remember his stories and laughter.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ladies at New Madrid Community Care Center and the staff at Missouri Delta Cancer Infusion Center for their unwavering dedication and compassionate care during Charles's illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Charles's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his spirit of generosity and love for community. Charles David White's life was a testament to the power of laughter, love, and resilience, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
