Charles Christopher Mills, affectionately known as Chris, departed this life on November 11, 2025. Born on October 9, 1952, in Radford, Virginia, Chris was a son of the late James and Ann Mills. He was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, whose spirit touched the lives of many. Chris grew up in Radford, surrounded by the love of his family, including his sister Linda Dobbins, who predeceased him, and his surviving siblings, Donna Mills and James Mills Jr. From an early age, Chris demonstrated a keen intellect and a passion for learning, which led him to pursue higher education at Virginia Tech. There, he developed a profound interest in electrical engineering, a field in which he would build a distinguished career. After graduating, Chris served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea. His time in the military was marked by dedication and commitment, traits that he carried throughout his life and career. Upon returning to civilian life, Chris embarked on a successful career as an Electrical Engineer, contributing his talents to companies such as AEP and VDOT. Beyond his professional achievements, Chris had a lifelong love for comic books, amassing a collection that spanned decades. This hobby was a testament to his vibrant imagination and his appreciation for storytelling and art. His collection was not just a pastime but a cherished part of his identity, reflecting the joy he found in the colorful pages and heroic tales. Chris was a devoted and loving husband to Jacqueline Walker, with whom he shared many beautiful years. His family was an important part of his life, and he treasured the time spent with his nieces and nephews: Leslie Cox (Ken), Eric Mills (Courtney), Patrick Mills (Jennifer), and Sheldon Dobbins (Paige Cox). Chris's humor, and generous spirit left an indelible mark on each of their lives. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral service will be held on October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to honor Chris's memory by donating to a charity of their choice, a gesture that reflects his lifelong commitment to helping others. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7). His legacy will endure in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, dear Chris.
