Charles (Charlie) Thomas Gaddy
April 21, 1938 — June 25, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Charles (Charlie) Thomas Gaddy. Born on April 21, 1938, in Flint, Michigan, Charlie left this world peacefully on June 25, 2026, at the Tree of Life nursing home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and warmth.
Charlie was the cherished son of the late Charles Monroe Gaddy and Lola Edith Card Gaddy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Pauline Gaddy, with whom he shared a loving and devoted marriage, filled with cherished memories and mutual respect.
Charlie's life was a testament to service and dedication. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force, where he was known for his steadfast commitment and integrity, earning an honorable discharge. His career path led him to work as a mechanic for Dixie Lime and Stone, a position he held with pride, while also contributing his skills at Union 76 Truckstop and later at Walmart. Charlie was known for his meticulous work ethic and the genuine warmth he brought to his interactions with colleagues and customers alike.
Beyond his professional life, Charlie was a man of humor and generosity, known for his warm smile that could light up a room. His kindness was not reserved for just family and friends but was extended to anyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He found joy in life's simple pleasures and always had a joke ready to bring a smile to those around him.
Charlie is survived by his loving son, Douglas Gaddy, and daughter-in-law, Brenda, who brought much joy to his life. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Bryan Gaddy (Kelly) and Brittany Shipman (Chris), and his great-grandchildren, Zoe and Zane Gaddy, and Dallas Griffith, who were the apples of his eye. He leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories that will continue to inspire and guide them.
In addition to his immediate family, Charlie is fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, and close friends who were touched by his kindness and warmth. His family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to The Haven Hospice of Lake City for their compassionate care during Charlie's final days.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Charlie's life, as per the family's wishes. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Charlie's memory are encouraged to perform an act of kindness in their own communities, echoing the generosity and warmth that he embodied throughout his life.
Charlie Thomas Gaddy's life was a shining example of how love, humor, and generosity can touch countless lives. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
