Charles “Charlie” Michael Bennett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on May 19, 2026, at his home in the comforting embrace of his loved ones. Born on March 22, 1949, in the serene town of Walterboro, SC, Charlie's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion.
Charlie was the cherished son of Harold and Roberta Bennett, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity that he carried throughout his life. On June 16, 1972, in Hardeeville, SC, Charlie married the love of his life, Elaine Parker. Together, over the course of 53 years, they raised three wonderful children—Shey, Shelly, and Seth—welcoming them into a world brimming with love, laughter, and the warmth of a close-knit family.
Throughout his life, Charlie was known for his infectious sense of humor and remarkable skills in billiards, often leaving his friends and family in stitches with his jokes. He was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in the gentle rhythm of the water. In his younger years, he had a passion for riding motorcycles, shooting guns, and chasing the elusive hole-in-one on the golf course.
A gentle giant, as described by one of his closest friends, Charlie was a man of immense kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand even when he had little to give. His determination and loyalty were unmatched, and his presence was a source of comfort and strength to all who knew him.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife Elaine, who stood by his side as an unwavering partner in life. He leaves behind his children, Shey (Emmy) Bennett, Shelly (Pat) Moody, and Seth (Brandi) Bennett, who will forever cherish the lessons and love imparted by their father. His legacy is further carried by his nine adoring grandchildren, Baden (Becca) Bennett, Emily (James) Ellis, Isabell Bennett, Ana (Josh) Holland, Sage Bennett, Jacob (Paige) Bennett, Rene Benedit, Micayel (Emilee) Bennett, and Ashlyn (Chandler) Tison, as well as his eight precious great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring bonds of family that Charlie held so dear.
In keeping with his wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Charlie’s life. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we remember him not with sadness, but with gratitude for the time we shared and the love that will forever bind us.
Charlie’s memory will continue to inspire all who knew him, a beacon of kindness, humor, and unwavering love. May he rest in peace, knowing the profound impact he made in the lives of those around him and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
