With heavy hearts and profound respect, we honor the life of Charles Bernard Johnson, who passed away on June 6, 2026, after bravely battling complications with cancer. Charles was surrounded by love from his family and friends, a testament to the deep and lasting impact he made on those around him. Born on June 27, 1954, in Monroe, Louisiana, Charles was the beloved son of Annie Johnson and Jessie Bernard. He grew up with a strong sense of family values, which he carried throughout his life. Though he has now joined his predeceased family members—his brother Jessie Johnson, sister Mary Hawkins, mother Annie Johnson, father Jessie Bernard, and ex-wife Darla Johnson—in eternal peace, his memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him. Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Tasheka Johnson, and his cherished children: sons Charles Talley and Robert Johnson, and daughters Anita Johnson and Tara Blackwell. He also leaves behind his brother, Harold Johnson, and his nephew, Izer Hawkins. Charles was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each a testament to his enduring legacy. A graduate of Pontiac Northern High School and Oakland Community College, Charles dedicated his career to serving his community as a respected member of the Proud Pontiac Police Department before retiring. While he did not serve in the armed forces, his commitment to public service was unwavering, and he was a cherished figure among his colleagues and friends. Charles was a man of many passions, including fishing, cooking, and a love for automobiles. He found joy in watching football and old westerns, often sharing these moments with family and friends. Known for his sense of humor and charismatic personality, Charles was a loyal, caring, and giving person, always ready to share his last with others. His warmth and generosity touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to celebrate Charles's life will be held on June 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, located at 268 North Perry Street, Pontiac, Michigan 48341. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Pontiac Police Department, honoring Charles's lifelong commitment to his community. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Fraternal Order of Police, the Pontiac Police Department retirees, and special thanks to Ken and Gary for their unwavering support during this difficult time. Charles Bernard Johnson will be remembered as a beacon of light and love, a man who lived his life with courage, laughter, and compassion. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the lessons he taught us and the love he shared so freely. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in our memories.
