Charles B. Allabaugh Sr.

Charles B. Allabaugh Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Nottingham Village in Northumberland, PA. Born on July 29, 1936, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Charles lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Charles was the beloved son of the late Phillip and Dixie (Limrick) Allabaugh and was predeceased by his brothers Richard, Robert, Henry, Tommy, and Phillip Allabaugh, as well as his sisters Elizabeth and Virginia. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Allabaugh, with whom he shared many beautiful years. Charles leaves behind a legacy in his children: Charles B. Allabaugh Jr. of Sunbury, PA, Roxanne Allabaugh-Mudge (Larry) of New Columbia, PA, Frank Allabaugh of Newfoundland, Canada, and Phillip Allabaugh (Shelly) of Paxinos, PA. He also adored his two stepdaughters, Rhonda Hackenburg (Scott) and Wanda Rozzano (Lester) of Washington State. His family was his pride, including his 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who will carry his memory in their hearts. Charles is also survived by his sister, Patricia Endler of Wilkes-Barre, PA.
A proud veteran, Charles served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957 and reenlisted in the Air Force from 1957 to 1959. His service to others extended beyond his military career. As a Maintenance Supervisor at St. Michael/St. Monica Catholic Church and School in Sunbury, PA, Charles was recognized with The Fred Piermatte Youth Service Award for his compassionate work with juveniles.
His commitment to guiding the youth of his community was further exemplified through his role as a Scout Master for troops 304 and 307 in Sunbury, where he was honored with many awards including the prestigious St. George Award and the Silver Beaver Award. Charles's unwavering faith led him to become a Catholic Lay Minister, offering spiritual guidance and performing services for 18 years at the Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury.
Charles was deeply proud of his military heritage and continued his dedication to service as the Commander of the American Legion Post 201 in Sunbury. He was a lifetime member of Post 1532 Sunbury Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he shared in camaraderie and a spirit of service with fellow veterans.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Nottingham Village for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to local veteran associations or the Boy Scouts of American in Charles's memory, reflecting his life of service and devotion.
A Mass of Burial will be performed at St. Monica's Church, Sunbury Pa at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 14, 2026, preceding visitation with the family at 10:00 am.
