It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Arthur McGregor on March 3, 2026, at the age of 100. Charles, affectionately known as Chuck to his family and friends, was born on September 30, 1925, in Warren, Ohio, to Raymond and Edith McGregor. He was the embodiment of a life well-lived, marked by love, dedication, and a profound kindness that touched the lives of many. Charles was a proud veteran who served his country with honor in the US Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. His experiences in the Navy were a testament to his unwavering courage and commitment, traits that he carried with him throughout his life. In 1954, seeking new horizons, Charles moved to California, where he embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry. He began as a used car salesman at City Chevrolet and later became a used car manager at Lincoln Mercury in San Diego. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own a 7-11 store and a Foster Freeze, before retiring as the esteemed President of County Burner & Machinery Corp. Charles's professional journey was a reflection of his determination and work ethic, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and customers alike. Charles was married to the love of his life, Shirley McGregor, with whom he shared a deeply devoted partnership until her passing. Together, they built a loving family and created a home filled with warmth and laughter. He was predeceased by his beloved Shirley, his parents, Raymond and Edith, and his sister, Adaline Smith. Charles is survived by his cherished children, son David McGregor and his wife Carol, and daughter Jill Conti with her husband Tony. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his four grandchildren: David McGregor, Allison, Tamara Conti, and Anthony Conti, as well as 11 great-grandchildren: Shayla, Kyleigh, Makenly, Hallie, Chewie, Brayden, Kimberley, x, Brody, Brooklynn, and Anthony. His lineage continues with one great-great-grandchild, Ollivia, who brought a twinkle to his eye and joy to his heart. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles had a passion for life that was evident in his everyday pursuits. He loved to golf and found serenity in long walks, where he could reflect and appreciate the beauty of the world around him. Charles's kindness was legendary; it was a gift he gave generously to everyone he met, and his legacy of compassion will endure in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. A service to honor and celebrate Charles's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Miller. We invite all who knew and loved Charles to join us in remembering a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a veterans' charity of your choice, in memory of Charles's dedicated service to his country. Charles Arthur McGregor's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and kindness. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Shirley, in the embrace of eternity.
