Charles A. Petronis

July 26, 1937 — May 28, 2026

Charles A. Petronis July 26, 1937 – May 28, 2026 With profound sadness, we share the passing of Charles A. Petronis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend, who peacefully left this world on May 28, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in the vibrant city of Philadelphia on July 26, 1937, Charles was the cherished son of the late John and Anna (nee Kavalauskas) Petronis. Charles' journey was deeply rooted in faith, family, and service. He attended St. Casimir's Elementary School and graduated from Southeast Catholic High School, laying the foundation for a life devoted to both learning and community. A proud veteran, Charles served his country with distinction in the US Army Reserve and the US Air Force, where he was stationed in Korea. In 1965, Charles married the love of his life, Margaret (nee Gestite), and together they embarked on a beautiful journey of 60 years, raising three wonderful children, Charles, Andrew, and Mark. His family was his pride and joy, and he reveled in the laughter and warmth that filled their home. Charles was a beacon of generosity, known for his infectious humor and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. His professional life saw him contributing to the success of Amstar Corp, the parent company of Domino Sugar, and later at Jaquin's Liquors, from which he eventually retired. Yet, his heart remained with his community. Charles was a lifelong member of St. Casimir's Lithuanian Catholic Church, where he served faithfully as an altar server, eucharistic minister, usher, chorus member, and committee member. His dedication extended to the Catholic War Veterans, where he held various positions on the Post, Chapter, State, and National levels, and as President of the Knights of Lithuania C-3. Charles’ interests were as vibrant as his personality. An avid fisherman, he found peace and joy in the gentle lapping of waves. He loved the thrill of casino trips, especially to Atlantic City, and cherished the companionship of cruises with his beloved wife. Whether going "down the shore," playing cards, or enjoying a spirited game of bingo, Charles lived life with an infectious enthusiasm. Preceded in death by his siblings, John (Rosalie), Margaret (Jack) Sheehan, Richard (Mary Ann), and Maryanne Hogan-Hopper (Dan Hogan), Charles is survived by his devoted wife Marge, his children Charles (Marie), Andrew (Ree Ree), and Mark (Isadora), and his grandchildren Mark, Jr., Vincent, and Mia. His family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Jefferson Hospital, SICU, Floor 4, for their compassionate care during his final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 4, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at St. Casimir's Lithuanian Church, 324 Wharton Street, Philadelphia, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Malvern Retreat House - Group No 57, honoring Charles' commitment to faith and community. Charles A. Petronis will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, boundless generosity, and the indelible mark he left on every heart he touched. His legacy will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the grace of God.
