Charlene Joyce Baumgartner, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, left this world on July 22, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on December 9, 1943, in Massachusetts, Charlene lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication. Charlene spent many years in the food service industry, where her dedication and kindness left a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. Her love for cooking was evident in her impressive collection of cookbooks, which she treasured and shared with her family and friends. She also delighted in collecting music boxes, a tradition she cherished and continued from her grandmother. A devoted member of Ridgeview United Church in Startex, South Carolina, Charlene found solace, strength, and a sense of community among her fellow congregants. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with peace and guiding her through life's challenges. Charlene was a beacon of resilience and compassion. Her heart was always open to those in need, and she approached life with an enduring spirit that inspired everyone who knew her. Her memory will remain a guiding light for her loved ones. Charlene's departure reunites her with cherished family members who preceded her in death, including her mother, Josephine Vostatek Kendrick; father, Charles Edward Kendrick Jr.; sister, Patricia A. Lopes; husband, Larry Lawrence Russell; brother-in-law, Tommy Lopes; and daughter-in-law, Lori Ann Baumgartner. She is survived by her loving family: her sister, Barbara Wirth, and husband, Roy Wirth; brother, Dennis Kendrick, and life partner, Wanda Prock; son, Peter Small, and husband, Christopher Chaplic; daughter, Laurie Jean Baumgartner Drayton; sons, Charles Andrew Baumgartner and Dana Joseph Baumgartner. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Jasmine Joyce Baumgartner Buteau, Antonio Charles Joseph Baumgartner, Justin Keith Fowler, Daniel Edward Small, Heather Faith Pace, and Grace Madison Baumgartner Souza—and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. A private celebration of Charlene's life will be held at a future date, allowing family and close friends to honor her memory in a personal and meaningful way. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charity of your choice, continuing Charlene's legacy of helping those in need. Charlene Joyce Baumgartner will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit, love, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
