It is with profound sadness and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved Char Silk Shiu, who departed this world peacefully on May 23, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on December 1, 1929, in China, Silk's journey through life was a testament to resilience, love, and dedication, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by those who knew him. Silk was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was enriched by the love of his family. Survived by his cherished wife of 65 years, Kam, their enduring partnership was a beacon of love and strength. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering support, surrounded by their children: Sui (David), Kin (Mei), Sally (Ken), and Mary (Kurt). Silk was the proud grandfather to Jacob, Alec, Ethan (Sam), Emma, Jarrett, and Karissa, and found immense joy in the presence of his great-grandchild, Koby. Throughout his life, Silk was deeply passionate about the architectural realm, finding great satisfaction in working with his hands. His ability to blend creativity with precision was evident in everything he touched, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and an appreciation for the beauty in structure and design. His love for his craft was matched only by his love for his family, and he often found ways to intertwine the two, passing on his knowledge and skills to his children and grandchildren. Silk was predeceased by his parents and siblings, a loss he carried with quiet strength and grace. Despite these losses, he continued to be a pillar of support and wisdom for his family and community. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Silk's life and legacy. In this intimate gathering, his family will come together to celebrate the memories they shared, the lessons he imparted, and the indelible mark he left on each of their hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that those who wish to honor Silk's memory consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, in tribute to a man who gave so generously to others. Silk's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and creativity.
