Cedrick Hopkins, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 83, due to heart failure. Born on March 7, 1943, in Hampton, South Carolina, Cedrick was a beacon of kindness, joy, and humor, and he touched the lives of all who knew him. Cedrick was the beloved son of Johnathan and Aubrey Hopkins and cherished brother to the late Willis Hopkins. From a young age, Cedrick displayed an innate curiosity and a love for learning, which led him to the University of South Carolina, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Engineering. On June 19, 1977, Cedrick married the love of his life, Rosa Hopkins. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, adventure, and warmth. Cedrick was a proud and devoted grandfather to two grandchildren, Christopher and Kayla Hopkins, with whom he shared countless memories. His career began as a diesel mechanic, a role in which he excelled due to his natural aptitude for understanding machines and his unwavering work ethic. Later, Cedrick realized his dream when he opened his own mechanic shop, a place where he could share his passion with others and where his expertise was highly regarded. Cedrick's commitment to his community was evident through his service as a Boy Scout troop leader and a volunteer firefighter. He was a respected member of the Open Arms Fellowship, where he was admired for his helpful nature and his ability to bring joy into every interaction. In his leisure time, Cedrick found peace and fulfillment in the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, often accompanied by his grandson Christopher, with whom he shared a special bond over their love of working on cars and trucks. Cedrick was also known for his culinary skills, often cooking up delicious meals for family gatherings, where his stories and laughter filled the room. Cedrick is predeceased by his brother Willis, his mother Aubrey, and his father Johnathan. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication that will be cherished by his family and friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Savannah Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care during Cedrick's final days. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor and celebrate his extraordinary life. Cedrick Hopkins will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
