Cathy Lee Schreifels, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, after an extended illness. Born on September 21, 1951, in Corsicana, Texas, Cathy was a beacon of warmth and creativity to all who knew her. She was 74 years old. Cathy was the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Erma Grantham, who instilled in her the values of kindness and resilience. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeffrey Schreifels of Temple, Texas, and leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy. Her children, Carrie Mixon and husband James of George West, Texas; Cory Matula and wife Kasi of Shiner, Texas; and Glynna Schreifels of Temple, Texas, have been blessed by her nurturing love and guidance. Her six grandchildren—Justin Bray, Tyler Mixon, Beau Mixon and wife Daria, Kade Matula, Kaleb Matula, and Kase Matula—were the light of her life. Cathy was a proud graduate of William Adams High School in Alice, Texas, Class of 1970. Her passion for creativity was evident in her love for decorating and redecorating, always finding joy in transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary. Her spiral notebooks brimmed with ideas that reflected her vibrant spirit and zest for life. Cathy was renowned for her friendly demeanor and never met a stranger, a testament to her genuine and welcoming nature. A fun-loving individual, Cathy was the mom who loved "cruising around" with music and embarking on adventures, ensuring holidays were always memorable for her family. Her ability to find joy in the simplest moments left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Cathy is also survived by her siblings Bob Grantham and wife Barbara, Fred Grantham and wife Mary Ann, and Gwen Grantham, all of whom shared in the joy and laughter that Cathy brought to every family gathering. A service to celebrate Cathy's life will be held on September 20, 2026, at Crotty Funeral Home, located at 5431 W US 190, Belton, Texas. The family invites those who knew and loved Cathy to join in remembering a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Cathy. They would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cornerstone Gardens Nursing Facility and Baylor Scott and White Hospice for their compassionate care during Cathy's final years. Cathy Lee Schreifels' legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
