In Loving Memory

Cathryn Marie Salerni
March 30, 1959 — October 21, 2026
Cathryn Marie Salerni, age 67, passed away on October 21, 2026. Born on March 30, 1959, in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Cathy was the daughter of the late Mary Hurley and Joseph Salerni.
Throughout her life, Cathy worked in several fields, including healthcare, where she served as an X-ray technologist at Delaware State Hospital. She also worked for Hospital Billing & Collection Services (HBCS).
There were many things that made Cathy uniquely herself. She loved a good book, a game of solitaire, and settling in to watch her favorites: Downton Abbey, Doc Martin, or anything Harry Potter. She enjoyed taking walks and had a special love for the beach, where the sand, ocean air, and sound of the waves offered some of life's simplest pleasures. And when football season rolled around, there was no question where her loyalty stood. She was a Philadelphia Eagles fan through and through. GO BIRDS!
Music was woven into so many parts of Cathy’s life. She had a wonderful appreciation for the classics, and there are plenty of memories of her playing the songs she loved. Bob Marley was among her favorites, and she especially enjoyed going to watch Spokey Speaky, the reggae and ska band her son Blayne plays in. Those familiar songs and melodies will undoubtedly bring back memories of her for years to come.
Of all the things that brought Cathy happiness, her children and grandchildren were among the greatest. She took tremendous pride in them, and each held a special place in her heart.
Cathy is survived by her five children, Brian (Kelli) Salerni, Regina Salerni, Blayne (Michaela) Salerni, Stephen Salerni, and Kyle Hall; her grandchildren, Miami Harris, Xavier Harris III, Khalia Harris, Lyric Jones, Sabion Salerni, Braylon Salerni, Marley Brown, Mason Brown, Leilah Salerni, Luca Salerni, and Gianna Salerni; and her stepbrother, Mark Melnychenko.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Hurley and Joseph Salerni; her grandson, Byron Johnson (Brian); her grandparents, Giacomo and Nicolina Salerni; her uncle, Robert Salerni; and her dear childhood friend, Joey Bagnato.
There is something about a familiar song, a favorite place, or a shared memory that has a way of bringing someone back to mind. For those who knew Cathy, perhaps it will be the sound of Bob Marley, a quiet afternoon by the ocean, the excitement of an Eagles game, or her laughter. These small, familiar pieces of her life are part of what made her who she was, and they will remain part of how she is remembered.
