October 8, 1956 — April 2, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Marie Skagerburg, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Catherine passed away peacefully at her home on April 2, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on October 8, 1956, in Dermot, Arkansas, to the late Robert H. and Charlsie Juanita Gafford. Catherine's life was a testament to love, resilience, and kindness—qualities she exemplified in abundance. Growing up in a warm and nurturing household, Catherine was instilled with values that she carried throughout her life. Her parents, Bob and Juanita Gafford, predeceased her, leaving behind a legacy of empathy and strength that Catherine continued in her own family. She shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband, the late David Skagerburg, and together they built a family filled with compassion and joy. Catherine's nurturing spirit was a guiding light for her children, Theresa Juanita Soria and her husband Eddie, and Robert Henson, who will continue to honor her memory by living lives grounded in the principles she cherished. Catherine was a proud and adoring grandmother to Cassandra, Juanita, Isiah, and Ryan, and a loving great-grandmother to two precious souls. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she delighted in watching them grow, always offering encouragement and sharing in their dreams and aspirations. Her surviving sisters, Roxanne Arnold and her husband Darrell of Washburn, Missouri, and Laura Jane Price and her husband Dennis of Magazine, Arkansas, remember Catherine as a pillar of strength and a confidante whose laughter could brighten any room. The bond they shared was unbreakable, a testament to the familial love that Catherine valued so deeply. Catherine's life will be celebrated at a service on May 9, 2026, at 3:51 PM, in Visalia, California. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Catherine are invited to join in honoring the legacy of a woman whose heart was as vast as the Arkansas sky she was born under. As we remember Catherine, let us cherish the memories and the love she generously shared with all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, as we carry forward the lessons of love, kindness, and resilience that she imparted throughout her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Catherine's memory to a charity of your choice, a gesture that aligns with her lifelong commitment to helping others. Catherine Marie Skagerburg will be deeply missed but never forgotten, living on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
