Catherine Elmore
August 20, 1947 — June 1, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Catherine Elmore, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Catherine left this world peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. She was born on August 20, 1947, in the quaint town of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to her loving parents, David and Vivian Douglas, who have since predeceased her.
Catherine, affectionately known as Cathy, was the cherished wife of the late Randy Stevenson Elmore, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of nearly 47 years. Their love story began with their vows on October 7, 1979, and together, they built a life filled with adventure, laughter, and mutual respect. Cathy’s eyes always sparkled with joy when recounting tales of their many camping trips, fishing excursions, and scuba diving adventures that took them to breathtaking places and created memories that would last a lifetime.
An intelligent and quick-witted woman, Cathy dedicated her professional life to serving as a Fiscal Accounting Clerk for the US Navy. Her sharp mind and meticulous attention to detail were instrumental in her role, and she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues throughout her many years of dedicated service.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cathy had a passion for nurturing and raising animals. A proud member of the AKC dog breeding community, she devoted much of her time to raising Boston Terriers and Chinese Shar Peis. Her devotion to these breeds was unparalleled, and she was a respected figure within the community, admired for her knowledge and dedication.
Family was at the heart of Cathy’s life. She is survived by her stepsons, Keith and Steven Elmore, who she loved as her own. Her love extended to her daughter-in-law, Lisa Elmore, and her cherished grandson, Austin Elmore, who brought immense joy to her life. Cathy’s legacy lives on through her great-grandchildren, Addilyn and Lucas Elmore, who were the light of her later years.
Cathy’s warmth and compassion touched everyone she met. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, and a place where family and friends gathered to create beautiful memories. She was a woman of grace, intelligence, and a remarkable sense of humor that could light up even the darkest days.
Though we mourn the loss of Cathy, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led—a life filled with love, adventure, service, and loyalty. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love that will continue to inspire those who carry her in their hearts.
A memorial service to honor Cathy’s extraordinary life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and tears, just as she would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Cathy’s name to a local animal shelter, honoring her love for animals and her commitment to their well-being.
Catherine Elmore, a remarkable woman who lived fully and loved deeply, will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Randy and her parents, watching over her family with the same love and care that she bestowed upon them throughout her life.
