With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Catherine Ann Froelich, beloved mother, sister, and friend, on July 9, 2026, at the age of 60. Cathy, as she was affectionately known, was born on January 23, 1966, at Fairbury Hospital in Fairbury, Illinois, to Eugene Charles Froelich and Carol Ann Culkin Froelich.
Cathy was a bright light in the lives of those who knew her, and she lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. She graduated from Ford Central High School in 1984 and went on to further her education at Western Illinois University, where she graduated in 1988. Her commitment to learning and personal growth was evident throughout her life.
Cathy embarked on a remarkable career with the USDA Soil Conservation Service, which later became the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Her dedication to her work and her passion for the environment shone brightly throughout her career. After 38 years and 10 months of service, Cathy retired on August 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and commitment.
On August 24, 1996, Cathy married Thomas Olson. While their paths later diverged, they shared together many cherished moments and a beloved son, Conner T. Olson, who was the pride and joy of Cathy's life. Her love and devotion to her son were unwavering, and she took immense pride in all his accomplishments.
Cathy had a zest for life that was contagious. She enjoyed many joyous adventures with family and friends, especially when camping, an activity that brought her peace and a deep connection to nature. Her laughter, warmth, and kindness will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Cathy is survived by her cherished son, Conner T. Olson, who carries forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion. She will also be dearly missed by her extended family and a wide circle of friends who were like family to her.
In honoring Cathy's life and commitment to community and nature, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting the values and passions that Cathy held dear.
May Cathy's spirit continue to guide us and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Cathy, knowing that you were deeply loved and will be forever missed.
