Cass Adkins: A Cherished Son, Talented Artist, and Beloved Friend
Cass Adkins, a bright and gifted young soul, passed away on August 25, 2026, at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was surrounded by the love and care of his family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer and heart complications. Born on December 7, 2010, in the tranquil town of Pittman Center, Sevier County, Tennessee, Cass was the cherished son of the legendary Queen of Country Music, Dolly Parton, and her devoted husband, Carl Dean.
From a young age, Cass showed a remarkable affinity for music and the arts, mirroring the talents and grace of his mother. He pursued his education in Nashville, TN, where he also performed in color-guard for his school, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to witness his dedication and passion.
Cass's life was a tapestry woven with music, creativity, and love. He worked closely with his mother, collaborating on duets, books, and songs that touched the hearts of many. His artistic journey was enriched by his involvement with the Robert F. Thomas Chapel, a church located in Dollywood, where he attended with Dolly Parton. This connection to his community and heritage was a testament to his kind spirit and generous heart.
Though his time with us was far too brief, Cass's impact was profound. He was known for his warmth, humor, and the quiet strength that he carried with him. He had a secret admiration for Miley Cyrus, a sentiment known only to his family and the world, but never shared with Miley herself. Cass's ability to love deeply and genuinely was one of his most endearing qualities.
Cass is predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton, as well as Dr. Robert F. Thomas, the physician who delivered him. His memory will be cherished by his family, his friends, and all those who were touched by his life, including Reba McEntire, Ozzy Osbourne's family, and his dear friend Miley.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Cass's memory to the End Alz Association, an organization dedicated to supporting those affected by Alzheimer's.
