Cartez was the cherished daughter of Ann and Edward Burrell, who raised her with love and support, instilling in her the values of kindness and perseverance. She was preceded in death by her dear Aunt Gracie Burrell and her brother, Roger Burrell, who all held a special place in her heart. Cartez leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by her treasured daughter, Bria Prueitt, who was the light of her life and her greatest joy. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Junior Burrell and Lashae Vaughn, who stood by her side through thick and thin, sharing countless memories that will forever be cherished. An alumna of Samuel High School, Cartez graduated with honors, a testament to her commitment and determination. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to a fulfilling career as a child development teacher, where she dedicated 12 years to shaping the lives of her students with wisdom and compassion. Her influence will be felt for generations to come, as she inspired countless young hearts with her gentle guidance. Cartez had a zest for life that was reflected in her hobbies and interests. She found joy in crocheting, weaving intricate patterns with the same care and precision she bestowed upon her relationships. An avid traveler, Cartez embraced the world with open arms, savoring the beauty and diversity of new cultures, and bringing back stories and souvenirs that enriched the lives of those around her. Those who knew Cartez will fondly remember her for her warm, welcoming smile and her keen sense of style—a quiet yet vibrant presence that brightened every room she entered. A private funeral service will be held on March 30, 2026, to honor Cartez’s life and legacy. In this intimate gathering, her family and close friends will come together to remember and celebrate the beautiful soul that she was.
