It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Carter Jay Shegog, a young soul who left us far too soon on July 24, 2024, in a tragic car accident. Born on May 30, 2009, in the welcoming town of Valparaiso, Indiana, Carter graced the world with his vibrant presence for 15 beautiful years.
Carter was the cherished son of Ashley and Robert Kunkle, who, along with his beloved sisters Rylie Certa, Alexa Shegog, and Charlie Kunkle, and his brother Joshua Kunkle, predeceased him. Together, they formed a loving family tapestry that nurtured and celebrated Carter's life.
A student at Angola High School, Carter was a bright and promising individual who excelled not only in academics but also in athletics. He was an enthusiastic member of the wrestling team and thrived on the track, where his competitive spirit shone brightly. His dedication and athletic prowess were a testament to his commitment and love for sports.
Outside of school, Carter pursued his passion for the great outdoors. He found joy and peace in fishing and could often be found on the golf course, sharing laughter and camaraderie with friends. Carter's affinity for nature and his active lifestyle were reflections of his adventurous spirit and zest for life.
Carter's working life saw him employed as a cashier at McDonald's, where his humor and good spirits left a lasting impression on both colleagues and customers. He possessed a unique ability to bring smiles and laughter to those around him, brightening even the dullest of days with his infectious personality.
It is difficult to encapsulate the essence of such a remarkable young man in mere words. Carter was known for his humor and good spirits, qualities that endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter was contagious, his kindness boundless, and his heart full of love for those around him.
To honor Carter's memory and celebrate his life, a service will be held on April 24, 2026, at 8:13 a.m. at Chrich, located at 123 Mango Street. Friends, family, and all who were touched by Carter's life are invited to come together to remember the joy he brought into the world and to find comfort in the shared memories of his vibrant spirit.
Though Carter's time with us was brief, his impact was profound, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he left behind. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary young man, let us carry forward his legacy of laughter, kindness, and a love for life that knew no bounds.
May Carter Jay Shegog rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved him.
