Carolyn Sue Collins Nickles, 61 a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Russell County Hospital, Lebanon Virginia after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Carolyn was born on October 7, 1960, in the quaint town of Dungannon, Virginia, to William Kelly and Ethel Mae Gibson Collins. Carolyn was a spirited woman with a heart as vast as the open sky. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her favorite pastimes, which included dryland fishing, cracking walnuts, and even the unique pursuit of eating groundhogs. These simple pleasures of life brought her great joy and a sense of peace. Throughout her life, Carolyn faced many challenges with unwavering grace and resilience. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, yet she carried their memories with her, always cherishing the bonds of family. Her legacy lives on through her two devoted daughters, Rachel Nickles and Ethel King husband, Kris King, and her cherished granddaughter, Cheyann Nickles. Carolyn's heart was also full of love for her best friend, Missy Nickles, who stood by her side through life's many adventures. Her special niece, Ann Collins, held a dear place in her heart, along with several other nieces and nephews. Not to be forgotten is her faithful animal companion, her goat; Tinkerbell, who provided her with companionship and comfort. Carolyn's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a profound appreciation for nature's beauty. Her warm smile and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Her family and friends will forever remember her strength, her kindness, and her unwavering love.
