July 4, 1938 — June 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Carolyn "Kay" Hines Williams, aged 87, on June 28, 2026, at The Palms in Sebring, Florida. Born on July 4, 1938, in the quaint town of Climax, Georgia, Kay was a beacon of love and laughter whose life was a testament to family, faith, and community service.
Kay was the cherished daughter of the late Fleming and Laura Hines. She grew up surrounded by the warmth of her close-knit family, including her late siblings Fay Evers, Carl, Robert, Raymond, L.F., and Harry. As a young woman, she graduated from Hardee County High School in 1956, where she began to lay the foundation for a life characterized by dedication and service.
On March 3, 1957, Kay married the love of her life, Earl Williams, and together they celebrated an extraordinary journey of love that spanned 69 beautiful years. Their union was blessed with two beloved children, Greg Williams, who predeceased her, and Beth Broen, who continues to honor her mother's legacy alongside her husband, James.
Kay's career as a bookkeeper was marked by integrity and skill, and she took immense pride in operating her own business. Her final professional chapter was spent at Florida's First Assembly of God, where she seamlessly combined her accounting acumen with her passion for helping others and serving God. Her work was more than a job; it was an extension of her generous spirit and her unwavering faith.
A devoted member of Florida's First Assembly of God, Kay found great joy in her church community. Her humor, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand made her a cherished friend and confidante to many. Her legacy of kindness and joy lives on in her surviving family: her dear husband Earl, her daughter Beth, her sister Dorothy Prine, her five grandchildren—Beverly Gooding (William), Stephen Williams (Morgan), Jake Broen (Alexis), Will Broen (Lindsay), and Kelly Herdzik (David)—and her seven great-grandchildren, Josiah Gooding, Bekkah Wood, Mae Broen, Ellis Broen, Nathan Broen, and Lily Herdzik.
Kay's laughter was infectious, her love for her family boundless, and her faith unwavering. She is remembered for her quick wit, her caring nature, and her ability to make everyone feel special and loved.
A celebration of Kay's life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Florida's First Assembly of God, located at 1397 South Florida Avenue, Wauchula, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Florida's First Assembly of God, specifically to the "First Youth" program, reflecting Kay's dedication to nurturing the future generations.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, let us carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and faith. Carolyn "Kay" Hines Williams will live on in our hearts, her spirit forever woven into the fabric of our lives. May she rest in eternal peace.
