Carolyn K. Gerhardt

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Carolyn K. Gerhardt, who was called home by the Lord on August 13, 2026. Carolyn was a beacon of love and strength, born on February 10, 1943, in Seymour, Missouri, to Elmer L. and Anna L. Joiner. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Elmer and Anna, Four brothers, four sisters, her cherished husband John A. Gerhardt, her dear daughter Robin G. Gerhardt, and two grandsons, Patrick Gerhardt Jr. and Kyle Gerhardt. Her legacy of love and resilience continues through her surviving family: Elizabeth Davenport and her husband Randy, Bill L. Gerhardt and Amy, and Patrick E. Gerhardt and his wife Rebecca. Carolyn was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and the great-grandmother to twenty-four great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored unconditionally. Carolyn and John shared a beautiful marriage that began on August 21, 1978, lasting twenty-four wonderful years. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, grounded in faith and devotion. A dedicated caregiver at heart, Carolyn began her career as a Nurse’s Aide at North Kansas City Hospital around 1968. Her passion for helping others led her to serve at Liberty Hospital and later at KU Medical Center, where she completed her career. Even in retirement, Carolyn's nurturing spirit remained undiminished. She was a firm believer in the church, finding solace and community within its embrace. Carolyn was educated at East High School in Kansas City, Missouri, where she built the foundation for a life dedicated to service and compassion. Her love for her family was evident in every cookout and holiday gathering, times when her home was filled with joy and laughter. Carolyn's selflessness and unwavering support were the cornerstones of her character. She possessed an unmatched ability to stand by her loved ones, offering strength and understanding, regardless of the circumstances.
