Carolyn J White
August 29, 1943 — April 5, 2026
It is with heavy hearts but also with gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Carolyn J. White, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and community pillar. Carolyn departed this life on April 5, 2026, in the comforting care of the Hospice Unit at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky, to join her Savior and reunite with loved ones who have gone before her.
Carolyn J. White, born on August 29, 1943, in Nicholasville, Kentucky, was the cherished daughter of the late Jasper R. and Emily Ogle. From a young age, Carolyn's life was deeply rooted in faith, attending Sunday School at Marble Creek Missionary Baptist Church and later accepting Christ and being baptized at First Baptist Church in Nicholasville. Her unwavering devotion to her faith was evident in her lifelong service to the church community, whether it was singing in the choir, participating in the Van Committee, contributing her culinary talents for 25 years, or preparing Wednesday night meals for the Youth & Children and the Widow’s Ministry.
Carolyn's dedication to learning led her to attend Dunbar in Nicholasville and graduate from Lincoln Institute, now known as Whitney Young, in Shelbyville. She furthered her education by earning a certificate from Fugazzi Business College. Professionally, Carolyn served the Jessamine County Transportation Department with dedication and care for 28 years as a school bus driver, ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children.
On December 2, 1961, Carolyn married the love of her life, the late William “Billy” White, marking the beginning of a beautiful union blessed with four children. Carolyn's legacy continues through her children: Jasper Demont White, Fonda Brow (Timothy) Walker, Geetha White (Kevin) Thomas, and Lana Carol Rowland, who will all cherish her memory.
Carolyn's love extended to her eight grandchildren: Perry T. and Shaquilla L. Brown of Culpepper, VA; Lawrence C. White of Harris County, TX; Elisabeth and Emily White of Lexington; Braxton L. Higgins of Nicholasville; and Evan E. Thomas of Lexington. Her heart was further filled with joy by her five great-grandchildren: Niah, Kienlee, and Isaiah Brown of Broadway, VA; Julian Brown of Grottaes, VA; and Zane Higgins. Carolyn's family also includes two sisters-in-law, Jerri McCormick and Hestella White, and her treasured sister-friends, George Ann Dunn, Laura, Anna “Poochie” Richardson, Ann Walker, and Linda McIntyre. Carolyn's warmth and generosity embraced many she considered family, including Rena Ward, Roxie T. Young, Monica Houp Herring, and the late Kathy Fee Kaba, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Carolyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, William “Billy” White, her parents, Jasper R. and Emily Ogle, her brothers, William J. and Lawrence “Joe” Ogle, and her sister, Mary L. Knox.
A celebration of Carolyn's remarkable life and unwavering faith will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, located at 200 South York Street, Nicholasville, KY 40356. As we gather to honor her memory, we are reminded of her love, kindness, and the indelible mark she left on all who were fortunate to know her.
In this time of sorrow, may we find comfort in the love and memories Carolyn shared with us, and may her spirit continue to guide and inspire us.
