Carolyn (Carrie) Ruth Izer, nee Ritchey

June 4, 1941 — May 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Carolyn (Carrie) Ruth Izer, nee Ritchey, on May 27, 2026. Carrie was a beloved mother, cherished friend, and devoted servant of God who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Born on June 4, 1941, to Luther E. Ritchey and Dorothy A. Ritchey Heslep, Carrie spent her early years in Richland County, Ohio. She graduated from Union High School in 1959, marking the beginning of a life characterized by kindness, service, and a deep commitment to her family and community. On March 31, 1962, Carrie married the love of her life, Ronald L. Izer. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning nearly six decades until Ronald's passing. Together, they created a warm and loving home, raising three sons: J. Todd Izer, who predeceased her, and her surviving sons, Steven L. (Marcey) Izer and Robert M. (Nikki) Izer. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was a pillar of support and wisdom to them throughout her life. Carrie dedicated 25 years of her professional life to Ohio Surgical Specialists in Mansfield, Ohio, where she was known for her diligence, compassion, and unwavering integrity. Her colleagues and patients alike admired her dedication and warmth. Faith was the cornerstone of Carrie's life. She was an active member of the Community Bible Church and later Crossroads in Mansfield, where she joyfully taught Children's Sunday School for many years. Her passion for teaching and her deep spirituality inspired countless young lives. After retiring, Carrie continued her ministry, leading a Ladies Bible Study in Mansfield and, later, Faith and Fellowship at The Oaks Assisted Living facility, where she shared her wisdom and grace with residents and staff alike. Carrie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast, often found with a good book or surrounded by pieces of a puzzle, her mind keen and curious. She loved playing games with family and friends, always infusing gatherings with laughter and warmth. A lifelong lover of cats, Carrie almost always had a feline companion by her side, bringing joy and companionship to her days. Preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, her parents, her son J. Todd, and her three brothers, Donald B. Ritchey, Luther (Eddie) Ritchey, Jr., and Samuel McCracken, Carrie's legacy of love and faith continues through her surviving sons, Steven and Robert, and the countless lives she touched. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of mourning. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse, Franklin Graham's Organization, continuing Carrie's legacy of compassion and service. A memorial service celebrating Carrie's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and share stories of a life beautifully lived. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Ronald and Todd, and cradled in the arms of the Savior she faithfully served throughout her life.
