November 5, 1942 — May 31, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Carolina Vallejo Bentrovato, who peacefully departed this life on May 31, 2026, after a short illness. Born on November 5, 1942, in the vibrant city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Carolina graced this world with her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith for 83 years. Carolina was the cherished daughter of Mercedes and Osvaldo, and she was welcomed into heaven by her parents, her dear sisters Olga and Lillian, her beloved son Eric, and her precious granddaughters Erica and Elayna. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will forever be treasured by her devoted husband of 60 years, Joseph S. Bentrovato, her loving son Joseph A. and his wife Candy, her caring sister Maria and her husband Bernie, and her adored grandsons Jacob, Christian, and Ryan. Carolina's spirit will continue to inspire her great-granddaughters, who were the light of her life. Carolina and Joseph S. Bentrovato began their journey together on May 24, 1966, when they united in marriage in the Dominican Republic. Their bond was one of deep affection and mutual respect, a beacon of love that illuminated their lives and the lives of those around them. Together, they built a nurturing home in New Jersey before retiring to the warmth of Plant City, Florida. A devoted educator, Carolina dedicated many years to the Dover Public Schools as a Teacher's Aid, where she touched the lives of countless students with her gentle guidance and compassion. Her commitment to service extended beyond the classroom, as she was a frequent volunteer for the Morris County Board of Elections, demonstrating her belief in the power of community and civic duty. In a moment of immense pride, Carolina became a U.S. citizen on January 25, 1991, embracing her new homeland while carrying her Dominican heritage close to her heart. Carolina was a pillar of faith and an active member of Sacred Heart Church and Holy Rosary Church in Dover for over fifty years. Her devotion to her Catholic faith was unwavering, and she found great solace and joy in her spiritual community. Her life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, humility, and grace, and she lived each day as a reflection of her enduring love for God and family. In her leisure time, Carolina found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was tending to her garden, sharing stories with loved ones, or offering a helping hand to those in need. Her warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and her presence will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to Carolina, we do so with heavy hearts but also with gratitude for the remarkable life she led. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration, and her spirit will continue to guide us in the days to come. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, where friends and family are invited to come together in remembrance and celebration of Carolina's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Carolina's honor. Rest in peace, dear Carolina. Your love has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and you will remain forever in our thoughts and prayers.
