Carolina Baluyot

March 3, 1948 — June 24, 2026

It is with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Carolina Baluyot, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, educator, and friend, who peacefully concluded her earthly journey on June 24, 2026, after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. She departed at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Carolina was born on March 3, 1948, in the serene town of Bagac, Bataan, Philippines, to Vivencio and Felicisima Almario Batol. She was predeceased by her loving parents and her dear sisters, Bebeth and Ludy. Carolina leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, Rolando "Rolly" Baluyot, with whom she shared a beautiful life filled with faith, respect, love, and laughter. Together, they raised four wonderful children: May Frances (Tony) Gilbert, Dave (Minette), Kristian Xerxes (Jihan Madrid), and Michael Augustus (Armie) Baluyot. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Amaya Carolanne, Malia Selah Gilbert, Darrin Paulo, Dylan Gabriel (Sarah Marie), Danika Kate, Damian Luis, Justin Philippe, Xander Yoseph, and Zabadiel Baluyot. Carolina's life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to education and service. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from the Philippine Normal University in 1968, and later pursued her MBA at the same institution. Her 35-year career as an educator began as a grade school teacher at Santa Catalina Elementary School in Bagac, where her dedication and passion for learning saw her rise to the esteemed positions of School Principal, Supervisor, and Acting Superintendent across various public and private schools. Carolina's influence extended beyond the classroom; she was an active member of her Roman Catholic community, where she mentored members of PREx, guided the Corinthian Youth Movement, and led by example in fostering responsible and meaningful service. Known for her kind soul and gentle spirit, Carolina lived by the phrase "Walang masamang isda" (there are no rotten fish), welcoming everyone with open arms and encouraging them to reach their fullest potential. Her gift for making others feel valued and heard was unparalleled, and her words and calm presence provided solace to many seeking advice, comfort, and guidance. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Though Carolina had few vices, she was an avid online shopper, bringing joy to her through the simple pleasures of finding items that made sense to her. Her frequent orders from Amazon, Temu, Walmart, and Target were well-known to the delivery drivers, who came to recognize her name by heart. Carolina is survived by her siblings Ellen, Mila, Thalits, Neneng, Teddy, and Ghie; her in-laws Violeta, Serafin (Azon), Delfin (Jhopay) Baluyot, and Nalina Ilano; and a multitude of other family and friends who will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Carolina's memory, to continue her legacy of giving and compassion. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Kaiser Permanente San Leandro and Fremont, CA – Oncology and Infusion Department for their compassionate care during Carolina’s illness. Carolina Baluyot may have left this world, but her spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in our hearts and minds. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the remarkable life she led and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will endure as a beacon of love and kindness.
