It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Carole Jane Sutch, affectionately known as "Janie", on April 21, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on February 8, 1934, in the Perry County town of New Bloomfield, PA. Janie was a beacon of warmth, love, and wisdom to all who knew her. Janie was the cherished daughter of the late Homer Elwood and Laura Gertrude (McBride) Weldon. Her upbringing in New Bloomfield instilled in her a deep love for her hometown, Perry County and Pennsylvania and its rich history, a passion she shared generously with everyone she met. She had an "infectious smile" and a welcoming spirit, Janie had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel seen and valued, often inquiring with genuine curiosity, "Where are you from?" She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Robert Sutch, with whom she shared 36 wonderful years of marriage after their union on April 7, 1956. Together, they built a life centered around love and family, raising three wonderful children on their family farm. Janie also mourned the loss of her infant child, Tommie Jean Sutch, her parents, her sister Patricia (Weldon) Swenson, brothers-in-law Robert Swenson, Paul Currie, Donald Fry, and her grandson Jesse Sutch. Despite these profound losses, Janie's heart remained open and full. She is survived by her loving children: daughters Brenda Kay Yagla (John) of Waukesha, WI, Judy Lyn Arnold (Edward) of Shermans Dale, PA, and her son David Weldon Sutch (Tammy) of Newport, PA. Her siblings Margaret Currie (Paul), Donna Lou Dum (Ben), and James Weldon (Sue) hold her memory dear, as does her sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Sutch) Fry. Janie's legacy of love and laughter lives on in her grandchildren Mathew Arnold, Jaimie (Arnold) Brennan (Shaun), and Christopher Sutch whose lives she enriched with her boundless affection. As well as her three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kyle, and Alexis Brennan. Janie's education at Perry Joint High School was the foundation for a diverse and fulfilling career. She served as a telephone operator, a fingerprint technician with the PA State Police, a clerk typist with the PA Department of Transportation, and as the park office secretary at Little Buffalo State Park and numerous other jobs in her retirement years. Her professional journey was marked by a dedication to service and a knack for connecting with people. A devout woman, Janie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in New Bloomfield, PA and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Enola, PA. Her community spirit shone brightly in her involvement with the New Bloomfield Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Janie had a tremendous love for games, board and card games but she particularly loved BINGO. Her enjoyment of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" brought her much joy and laughter. Janie enjoyed cooking and baking, some of her family's favorites included but not limited too were homemade chicken pot pie, crumb cake and pork BBQ. Lots of family and friends benefited from her cooking, As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on our hearts. Janie Sutch's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and connection. There truly was nothing she wouldn't do for anyone. She was the kind of person who showed love in every way - through her time, her kindness, her cooking, and the countless little things she did that made life brighter. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and all who were fortunate to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.
