In Loving Memory

Carole Ann Richardson (McCullough)
March 9, 1941 — May 6, 2026
In loving memory of Carole Ann Richardson (née McCullough), who graced this world with her presence on March 9, 1941, in the idyllic town of Fortuna, California. Carole departed peacefully from this life on May 6, 2026, embraced by the love and warmth of her family.
Carole was the cherished daughter of Manly "Chub" and Mary McCullough, who instilled in her the values of love and loyalty that she carried throughout her life. She was predeceased by her dear parents, her beloved sister Linda and brother-in-law Mike Mahn, as well as her treasured niece Nicole Mahn-Newman. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Carole’s journey through life was enriched by her devoted husband, Darrell Richardson, with whom she shared an extraordinary 68 years of marriage. Their love story began on July 19, 1958, when they embarked on their shared adventure by purchasing a home in Rio Dell. Together, they nurtured a family filled with love and laughter. Carole's daughters, Lorie Walsh (John) and Shellie Richardson, were the light of her life, and she celebrated their every achievement with pride.
A loving grandmother, Carole's legacy includes her grandchildren: Taylor Walsh (Chuck), Jordan Walsh, Shane Walsh, Zachery Richardson, Sara Knapp (Mickey), and Travis Sarvinski (Laura), who were the jewels in her crown. She also delighted in the joy of her 10 great-grandchildren, who brought endless smiles and laughter into her life.
Carole dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker and a nurturing mother. Her warm heart extended beyond her home, as she found joy in her role as a cook's helper in the Rio Dell School Cafeteria, where she worked for 18 fulfilling years. She lovingly referred to it as her "little" job, though her contributions were anything but small to those she served.
A lover of horses from a young age, Carole cherished her spirited Pinto horse, Brandy, who would rear on command, much to her delight. Her artistic spirit shone brightly as she transformed old rocking horses into stunning carousel ponies, a project she was passionately working on before her hospitalization. In a touching tribute to her creative spirit, Darrell has vowed to complete them in her honor.
Carole was a woman of unwavering loyalty and love, never allowing a harsh word about her cherished ones to pass. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her sense of humor brought light and joy to those around her. She had a playful spirit and loved to tease, endearing herself to all who knew her.
A celebration of Carole's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna, California, where family and friends will gather to honor the beautiful soul who touched so many lives. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Carole's compassionate nature and loving heart will continue to inspire kindness and love in those who knew her. May her soul find peace and rest in the embrace of eternal love.
